Data Mirroring - Real-Time data replication

We have all heard of Real-Time solutions before. But each of them come with challenges. Either configuration is complicated or involves coding/ETL or the cost is exorbitant.

Data Mirroring in Microsoft Fabric is none of the above. It is easy to configure, involves no ETL and the cost is minimal. This feature is in public preview and I have been kicking the tires. Check out the video where I share my findings.

Performance Flow by xVIZ is the best visual for Parent Child hierarchies In Power BI

What is one thing that is harder than modeling complex hierarchies and relationships in our data? Well, having to visualize it of course!

Luckily, xVIZ Performance Flow might be the best tool to make it easier for us. It's an incredibly mature visual with lots of features and customization options. Please check out my latest video for a quick review and tutorial.

This video is taking a look into how XViz’s Performance Flow visual enhances Power BI’s ability to manage and visualize parent-child hierarchies. We’ll start with an introduction to Performance Flow and why it’s uniquely suited for complex hierarchical data visualization.

I’ll walk you through the setup and practical use of Performance Flow, including its standout features for visualizing hierarchies, such as displaying images within visuals, handling various relationship types with dotted lines, and setting up custom links. Along the way, I’ll point out some quirks and share tips to get the most out of your data visualizations.

We’ll also cover the essential steps for preparing your data, including how to enhance your models with DAX calculations to work through some of the potential stumbling blocks. Plus, I’ll show you how to leverage Performance Flow’s extensive customization options to not just analyze your data but also make it visually compelling.

Whether you’re new to Power BI or looking to refine your data analysis skills, this video will equip you with the knowledge to effectively use Performance Flow for sophisticated parent-child hierarchy visualization and analysis.

LangChain Agents to query Power BI datasets in Microsoft Fabric

Are you still one of the people who have not yet realized that the world of BI is about to get turned upside down with GenAI and LLMs? Well, you can keep basking in your ignorance, but for the rest of us, we need to figure out how to stay ahead of where this is going and not be left behind.

With my latest video, we're stepping into the future with LangChain LLM Agents, and how they're revolutionizing the way we interact with Power BI data within Microsoft Fabric. Forget the traditional ways of data processing and get ready for a mind-blowing journey into AI-driven analytics.

You can query your Power BI datasets/semantic models and potentially replace lines of code with just a few simple prompts.

The Tipping Point in Business Intelligence

The realm of Business Intelligence (BI) stands on the brink of a revolution, one that promises to redefine our understanding and management of data. At obvience.com, we’re no strangers to the waves of change that periodically sweep through the tech landscape. Yet, the seismic shift brought about by Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) is something altogether different. It’s not just an evolution; it's a transformation.

Well, what if I asked you how much was your life in the world of BI about to change with the advances of GenAI and LLMs? Some of you are laughing it off and some of you are taking it very seriously, just like I do.

In the last few weeks I went on a journey to answer this question for myself... Should I worry? Should I be looking at other options career wise? Or should I just ignore it and find something else to worry about...

Well, the answer is clear, the tsunami of change is a-coming. I don't know if it will happen this year... or next year... But I am certain that it will happen.

This video is a result of the last few weeks worth of research. First, I was able to use LLMs (OpenAI) for data enrichment in Microsoft Fabric. Then I was able to bring my own data into the fold and now this.. LangChain agents...

An LLM Agent is a technology that transcends the typical LLM limitations by giving LLMs tools to do amazing things. In this case, we are able to query and make sense of our Power BI datasets or I guess I should say semantic models, now. This is crazy, we can literally now use prompts like we do in ChatGPT to replace pages and pages of code, moreover, we can simply use existing policies and procedures or even requirement documents to implement logic without having to write a single if/else statement.

So... our lives are about to change, we can either fight it or embrace it... I intend to be leading this change and I hope that you join me on this wild ride!
